Fittonia is popularly called the “nerve plant” or “mosaic plant” because of the bright, contrasting veins like patterns on the leaves. It is native to tropical rainforest in South America, mainly Peru. They are spreading evergreen perennials growing 10–15 cm (4–6 in) tall with delicately veined, deep-green leaves. Glossy green colored leaves have veins in pink, white, sliver white and light green colors. It requires moderly moistured well drained soil, bright light with indirect sun exposure and thrives at temperatures around 70 F.
