Nematanthus is a flowering plant species popularly known as “Gold Fish” as its flowers resemble goldfish. Petals of its flowers are fused into a pouch-like shape with a very small opening. Leaves of the Nematanthus plant are small, thick, shiny and green producing from arching stems, which can spread upwards and downwards. Thus this plant is best suitable for indoor use on table potts, hanging baskets and outdoor garden or landscape borders. It is easy to care, drought tolerant plant and can produce flower all year with proper care. It can grow up to a height of 2 feet and 3 feet in spread. All species of Nematanthus are endemic to Brazil. The best atmospheric condition for growing this plant includes medium to bright sunlight with shade, less watering (at least twice a week), and soil should be perfectly drained and moderately dry.
