Alocasia is a tropical and popular house and garden plant species. Also known as “Elephant Ears” because of its beautiful leaves which resembles elephant ears in shape and size. Leaves are shaped in a heart or pointed arrow form, broad in size, evergreen and with huge decorative veins in contrasting colors. Leaves can grow to a length of 20 to 90 cm on long petioles. They can grow up to a height of 3 to 10 feet and can expand to 2 to 10 feet. This plant prefers full bright sunlight and can tolerate partial sunlight exposure as well. It requires moderate watering, especially when the soil is dry. They are native to tropical and subtropical Asia to Eastern Australia.
