Ponytail Palm (The botanical name Beaucarnea Recurvata) is also known as “Elephant Foot”, because of its noticeably expanded caudex, that stores water in the trunk and bright green and grassy leaves makes it beautiful to use as a houseplant if prune to medium height. Ponytail palm is native to the states of Tamaulipas, Veracruz and San Luis Potosí in eastern Mexico. This evergreen perennial can grow up to 15 feet 6 inches (4.72 m). Grow your ponytail palm in sandy, well-drained soils in bright sunlight under partial shade or full sun for sometime in a day. It requires moderate watering and allowing the soil to dry a little between the waterings.
