Colocasia also known as Taro plant, is a beautiful plant species very much similar to Alocasia. They are herbaceous perennial plants. They have a close resemblance to potatoes. Their roots and leaves used for food in most of the Asian and Indian subcontinent region. Their leaves are often green colored and some species have dark brown and magenta colored leaves. The upper surface of the leaf is darker than the lower surface. These plants are real “Elephant ears”, as their leaves can grow huge up to 40 cm wide. Colocasia prefers bright sunlight, and adequate watering so that the soil should not be dry for a long time. This plant species is native to southeastern Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
